Is ditching your ironing board the ultimate self-care hack?

Is ditching your ironing board the ultimate self-care hack? Here at Philosophy Australia, we think so.

Life’s too short! Easy wear, easy care, wear anywhere fashion is totally our jam.

Banning the iron for good? What can you do to make sure your wardrobe is simple and easy, while also looking fabulous?

1. Opt for wrinkle-resistant fabrics

These materials stay smooth even after washing and wearing.

We offer several fabrics across our always Australian-made collections, and the beauty is that some of these signature fabrics actually hate an iron too!

2. Get rid of wrinkles and lines with a quick steam

Other fabrics like a little steam to help them look their best, but even those don’t want you getting a steam flush in the process. It’s about taking a quick and easy approach. Try focusing on pockets and necklines as those don’t look or feel great when crumpled.

3. Choose wash-and-wear styles

Look for easy care pieces labelled as "wash and wear" or "no iron required." They’re designed to look great straight from the line.

While our pants are popular, did you know we also have tops, tunics and dresses, so you can effectively wear these pieces year-round and never have to iron again?

You love Lustre technical, for its technical breathable fabric that looks and feels like silk. Our Resort hammered crepe and Foundation slinky jersey collections both want you just to hang them to dry, and wear again. Love. Wear. Wash. Repeat. With confidence!

4. Hang clothes straight out of the wash

Shake out wrinkles before hanging clothes to dry. Use hangers instead of a clothesline to maintain the shape and reduce creases. Take a moment to straighten seams, smooth and shape the garment on the hanger - you'll thank yourself later!

We also feel life’s too short for handwashing, so the majority of fabrics we use in our collections are machine washable for your laundry ease too. We do however always suggest that you use the gentle cycle and always on the cold setting.

5. Stick to simple silhouettes

Loose-fitting or softly structured designs, like A-line dresses or wrap tops, are less prone to creasing compared to tailored pieces.

6. Layer with wrinkle-free outerwear

Ducking out in a hurry? Add a quick layer, like a blazer or cardigan, made from wrinkle-resistant materials to create a layered, polished look.

7. Roll, don’t fold

Rolling clothes isn’t just for packing. One time-saving hack that minimises creasing is to roll your clothes instead of folding them when putting them away in a drawer. It also helps you find items quickly and keeps them ready to wear.

8. Prioritise comfortable, stretchy bottoms

Choose wide-leg pants in wrinkle-free fabrics, like bengaline. These options are comfortable and don’t require constant upkeep.

Our customers can’t get enough of our bengaline pants. We know! They fit so well, feel great and you’re right, they don’t need to be ironed.

9. Accessorise to elevate your look

Use scarves, statement jewellery, and belts to add style to a simple outfit without worrying about ironing. Scarves can also disguise slightly wrinkled tops.

10. Invest in high-quality essentials

Quality garments made from well-woven fabrics are less likely to wrinkle and last longer. Stick to timeless staples like black pants, midi dresses, and versatile tops.

By focusing on fabrics, thoughtful care, and strategic styling, you can build a no-fuss wardrobe that’s both chic and low-maintenance!
