I have been trading now for 15 years and I still have the same enthusiasm I had when I started. It's small, but beautiful. 

Who is your customer

My beautiful customers always try and support me. They range from approximately 55 up to 90, and sometimes a younger age group for my handbags and jewellery. 

Most of my customers are local, but I do have a country following as they stay in Como when they need to come to Perth for appointments. 

What sets your boutique apart? 

I give exceptional service to any person who walks into my store, and always follow up on an inquiry. Some people are quite amazed they get a call back. 

How do you sprinkle kindness? 

If I happen to be having a coffee when my regulars come in, they usually will sit down and have one with me and we speak of what they have been up to. You form many friendships in a small business. 

Apart from your bricks and mortar store, how else do you market your goods? 

I am very old fashioned in the way I do business as I do not post on social media. I ask my customers if they would like me to send a photo of new stock that I think they would like. I feel it is very impersonal to keep receiving e-mails from companies. I feel I am just a number, so do not do it to my customers. 

I still have a layby system. My very best customer comes every 2 weeks, laybys and stays for a couple of hours and we chat. 

What are your thoughts about Philosophy? 

I promote Philosophy to customers as Australian made and true to size. During Covid I was asked for garments that were not made in China, hence Philosophy was the label I promoted.
