About our store
Sydney Street is an iconic Adelaide-based fashion boutique which was established over 30 years ago and is a favourite shopping destination for many Adelaide locals.
With over 60 labels, we offer an extensive range of clothing, accessories and homewares at our gorgeous heritage building in Unley as well as our online store.
What is your customer profile?
Sydney Street customers are stylish women who favour classic, timeless fashion and appreciate high quality fabric and fit that is also affordable. They love the shopping experience, whether that be social occasions with their mother/daughter, receiving styling advice, or jumping online in the evenings at home.
What sets your boutique apart?
We have such a broad range of labels in store that there literally is something for everyone. Most customers don’t walk out without finding something they love each time they visit. We have new stock coming in every week and our merchandising makes it easy to find pieces that work together. Our staff are genuinely friendly and love helping our customers find the perfect outfit.
We get to know our customers and keep them in mind when stock comes in. If we know you’re on the hunt for a particular style, size or colour, we’ll let you know!
What is your best style tip?
Wear what you feel comfortable in and always ask for help if you’re unsure.
We love it when our customers give us a brief for what they are looking for or an event they are going to and then we can help put the outfit together for them.
What makes your day?
We love it when our customers share how much they love our store! We hear it often in store and online and never get tired of the compliments!!
How do you sprinkle kindness?
We’re always looking for opportunities to give back. In addition to supporting local community groups and schools, each year we take part in Frocktober events and donate to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund.
We also often hand deliver to our customers that find it difficult to come into the store.
Apart from your bricks and mortar store, how else do you market your goods?
We send weekly emails to our loyal customer base and post daily on Facebook and Instagram. We’re also active in the Adelaide Eastern suburbs community, throwing fashion parades and pop-up stalls at markets and events.
What’s the best thing to do in your location, other than shop at your store?
There are loads of cafes, gyms, and hairdressers nearby, and we are surrounded by beautiful streets and homes, so a lovely walk around the area followed by a coffee with a friend and some shopping is a great way to spend a day.
Is there a local business you’d like to recommend, preferably a female led one, which aligns with our campaign?
Emma from Deconstruct Digital, the agency that help with our social media and marketing.
Emma is passionate about helping small to medium business locally, with a particular focus on women’s and parenting brands. She’s known for “sprinkling kindness” – she steps in to help with our fashion parades, and pop-up charity events and even models for our photoshoots!
What are your thoughts about Philosophy?
Our passion and focus at Sydney Street is to provide ageless, timeless and effortless fashion and the Philosophy brand ticks all these boxes!
Philosophy offers a reliable range of classic styles using quality fabrics with the added bonus that everything is Australian made.
Ali is delightful and enthusiastic and is always positive and forward thinking with her approach to business and has created a wonderful network of women in business supporting each other.
